RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE OF ANTIQUE CHANDELIERS

FORNACE49, thanks to the thirty-year experience of the Master Glassmakers, is able to offer the maintenance and restoration service of antique chandeliers. Especially in the public and hotel sectors, it often happens that within a historic structure there is the presence of precious chandeliers of great historical-artistic value that require this complex service.

The operation consists of a complex series of delicate and specific interventions, carried out by our Master Glassmakers, which for each chandelier can involve all or some of the following phases:
– dismantling, packaging and cataloging of lighting fixtures
– identification of any damaged or missing elements
– labeling and removal of the same to be able to reproduce them in the furnace
– careful cleaning of all elements to restore the chandelier to its original splendor
– bringing the frames up to standard with the replacement of corroded or damaged metal parts, wooden discs and holsters
– verification and, where necessary, creation of new wiring to bring the electrical system up to standard, with subsequent testing and certification
– reassembly and installation of chandeliers.

In the restoration of these important pieces it is essential to take into account not only the functional aspect, i.e. their ability to illuminate the environments in which they are placed, but also and above all the intrinsic historical value artistic, which must be protected and preserved.

It is therefore not a question of implementing an aesthetic reinterpretation, but on the contrary of precisely restoring its original appearance and splendor, eliminating the traces left by time and, often, by human negligence, and reconstructing the broken or missing parts with scrupulous attention.
For all the activities that are part of the restoration of the chandelier, the age of the artefact, the period of origin and, consequently, the materials and techniques to be used in compliance with traditions are taken into account.

To carry out this activity in a workmanlike manner FORNACE49 also makes use of the support of some external professionals with proven experience, including an Electrical Expert, for the certification of electrical systems, and a Metal Restorer, for restoration reports on metal and glass parts.
